SFC-Sponsored Voluntary Peer Observation Program
The SFC-Sponsored Voluntary Peer Observation Program is a faculty-led initiative designed to support both new and experienced UConn Stamford teaching professionals through peer observation. This program fosters peer-to-peer engagement, professional development, and instructional growth in a confidential and supportive setting.
Faculty can use this opportunity to:
- ✔ Enhance their teaching through private, constructive feedback from experienced peers.
- ✔ Refine instructional methods with insights on engagement, clarity, and technology use.
- ✔ Utilize it as an evaluation strategy to strengthen their Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (ATE, formerly SET+) for Promotion, Tenure, and Reappointment (PTR) packet (CETL Guidelines ).
Participation
- ✔ Voluntary – Faculty can choose to participate as observers or instructors.
- ✔ Confidential – Feedback remains private between the observer and instructor.
- ✔ Flexible – Observations can be live (preferred) or based on recorded lectures.
- ✔ Constructive – Emphasis on growth.
📅 Sign up by March 7th to participate this semester!
How It Works
- Sign Up – Choose whether you'd like to be an observer or receive feedback on your teaching. Participation is completely voluntary.
- Get Matched – The SFC facilitates initial contact between the observer and instructor, allowing them to coordinate the details independently.
- Pre-Observation Discussion – Meet briefly with your observer to establish goals, discuss areas of focus, and clarify expectations.
- Observation & Feedback – Your peer observes your class (live or recorded) and provides confidential, constructive feedback on aspects such as engagement, clarity, instructional methods, and use of technology. Feedback is provided in both verbal and written formats with actionable suggestions.
- Reflect & Grow – Use the insights gained to refine your teaching strategies. You may also opt for a follow-up discussion or mentorship for continued development.
📢 Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from your peers and enhance your teaching!
